This year (2024) a Photo ID is required to vote in North Carolina. If you do not have a Driver’s License, you can get a Voter ID through the Board of Elections absolutely free. To get one you can either go to the Board of Elections during office hours or attend one of the Voter ID Seminars listed below on the flyer.
A voter without an ID can still vote on a provisional ballot. However, they must bring an ID into the Board of Elections immediately after the election (no later than November 13) for the vote to be counted.
Note that absentee voters need a photo copy of their ID included in their mail-in ballots for them to count.
