An old friend called recently and asked if I would visit her sister who was nearing the end of her life. She was a patient at the KBR Hospice (Trellis) Home and was frightened by the thoughts of death. She was worried that God might not forgive her even though she had asked.
“God loves you very much, like his own child,” I said. “He’s your Father in heaven and has completely forgiven you. He’s here with you and will never leave you. You are safe in the arms of his love.”
A red “feely heart” made by ABC handicrafters was on her bed. I picked it up and it was damp with her tears. I told her that women in our church made them. I handed it to her and said, “Whenever you hold this heart, think about how much God loves you. His love is as real as the heart you’re holding.”
Jesus said, “My Father is at work to this very day, and I too am working.” (John 5: 17)
Thank you, Handicrafters, for extending the hands of God’s love through the work you do.
