Kevin Anderson began serving as Director of Worship Media at Ardmore Baptist Church in January 2020.
Born and raised in Iowa, Kevin graduated two professional music diploma programs at McNally Smith College of Music in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He studied guitar performance, music theory, jazz harmony, studio recording, and music education. He worked as an assistant for the Music Theory Department, and he won the Award for Outstanding Achievement in the field of Guitar. While in college, Kevin found his passion teaching private music lessons in guitar, bass, trumpet, and ukulele. He moved to Portland, Oregon and created his own business teaching private and small group music lessons at several music stores and in his home studio. Kevin has performed with several music groups, including the regular Sunday worship band at Greater Portland Bible Church for many years, where he also contributed to the recording, performance, and production of an album of worship music. He has performed solo fingerstyle acoustic guitar, duets, and with full band ensembles. Kevin has performed music at weddings, funerals, concerts, fundraisers, and many other events. He has volunteered his musical talents at assisted living centers on the holidays, and created performance opportunities for his music students.
Kevin enjoys directing the technical team at Ardmore Baptist Church with sound, lights, projection, and recording of Sunday services. During the week, he also works in the IT department at Novant Health, supporting the hospital staff at Forsyth Medical Center. Ever since a very young age, Kevin has been interested in music, technology, and taking things apart to figure out how they work.
Kevin and his wife, Allison, were married in 2016. Allison grew up with the community at Ardmore Baptist Church, and Kevin has been attending since he moved to North Carolina in 2013. They have a son, Roger, who was born in 2018. All three of them are passionate about music, nature, and animals, especially rescue dogs. Allison and Kevin have performed several concerts together as a musical duo called Southern Bacon.
“One of my biggest passions is being able to use my skills and talents to serve and improve the lives of others.”
