Kathy Stewart joined the staff as Music and Hospitality Assistant in July 2017. Kathy has been a member of Ardmore Baptist Church since February 1994.
Kathy was born in Waycross, GA, and moved at age 6 weeks to Saipan. With her dad in the Navy, her family moved a number of times during her childhood. Her father retired from the Navy and moved the family for the last time to Beaufort, SC. Kathy graduated from Clemson University with a B.S. in Science Teaching. Her degree prepared her well for a 35 year career in banking! It was Wachovia Bank (now Wells Fargo) that brought Kathy to Winston-Salem.
While Kathy has no family in the immediate area, her fellow members at Ardmore Baptist Church have become her family away from home. She enjoys visiting family and traveling, as well as working on projects at home.
“With parents born during the Great Depression and reared in a farming community, I tend to be inspired to practical ministry. Tell me the story of someone who needs help ripping out floors or walls due to a flood, and I want to get busy helping. I know the Lord led me to Ardmore Baptist Church for a lot of reasons, but one reason was for the missions that are available. I have been blessed to help at the Village of Hope in the Ukraine, to fit people with glasses in Peru, and to help people much closer to home.
“I like to talk about God’s sense of humor as shown to me on my first mission trip to the Village of Hope. I had prayed before leaving on that trip that I would be able to do something concrete (meaning practical) to help the people there. Well, God answered that prayer with a laugh. We spent most of our time that trip mixing and pouring concrete! I still get a chuckle when I think about that.”
