James Robert Davidson (Jim) came to Ardmore Baptist Church in August of 2015 as Music and Arts Educator.

A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Jim is married to his wife, Rosemary. They have two adult children, LeAnne, and Erik, and three grandsons.

Jim has his Bachelor degree in music from Wheaton College and his Masters in Church Music and Doctor of Musical Arts from the School of Church Music at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Davidson and his wife have lived and ministered in Georgia, North Carolina and Curitiba, Brazil, where they served as music missionaries for six years. He has also taught on the university level as the Chairman of the Music Department at Tift College, Forsyth, GA.

In his spare time, Jim enjoys gardening, making music, and stained glass. Among his inspirations are the scriptures and hymns and their stories. He was called to church music ministry when he was in college, answering God’s call on his life; however, at an early age, he felt God’s call to ministry, thinking it would be preaching. He still preaches, just with music notes rather than spoken word.

Jim’s heroes are his Christian father and his college band professor, Russell Platz. On his 50th wedding anniversary, Jim fulfilled one of his dreams on his “bucket list”: hang gliding over the Outer Banks for 20 minutes at a height of 2,000 ft!

“I really love encouraging children and adults to offer their very best in praise of the Lord, no matter what their level of musical skill might be.”
