DeNeal Fowler became the Minister of Invitation and Hospitality at Ardmore Baptist Church in May 2017.
Born and raised in Statesville, North Carolina, DeNeal came to Winston-Salem in 1995. She graduated from Appalachian State University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications, a concentration in Public Relations, and a minor in Marketing. DeNeal’s professional experience includes over 27 years working in corporate sales, education, marketing, and advertising.
DeNeal and her husband James have been married for 26 years. James also graduated from Appalachian State University and is the plant manager for McIntyre Manufacturing Group in Thomasville. They have three children: Grayson, Samuel, and Lorna. The newest member of their family is Ellie, a one-year-old Goldendoodle.
DeNeal enjoys music, reading (especially memoirs and historical fiction), movies, photography, and spending time with family and friends. She draws inspiration from art, nature, words, and music. She loves hearing people’s stories and seeing all the ways God uses ordinary, everyday experiences to accomplish extraordinary things for His Kingdom.
Fun facts about DeNeal: She knows the songs from all the great 1980’s movie musicals, and studied organ for a short time. She also owns a tiara and hopes for an occasion to wear it!
“I became the Minister of Invitation and Hospitality on a somewhat unconventional and non-traditional ministerial path. After being a member of Ardmore Baptist Church for 22 years, God showed me how He had been weaving my prior vocational experience, communication skills, discipleship training, and love of others together over the years to equip and call me to the Ministry of Invitation and Hospitality. I am passionate about viewing hospitality through the lens of Christ’s example, where people were always the point. Nothing makes me more excited than helping people find community and calling in Christ.”
