Dear Brothers and Sisters of Ardmore Baptist Church,
By now we have all seen the devastation and loss that Hurricane Helene has caused across the Western part of our state and other regions. As homes, businesses, roads, vehicles, and beloved parks were flooded and destroyed our hearts broke for our neighbors in these areas.
As a community of faith deeply faithful to the call of loving our neighbors and offering care in a time of need, you all overwhelmingly stepped up to ask how we can help. We have been in communication with our partners at Baptists On Mission all weekend to find ways to help without adding to the burden and hurt of the area.
If you are interested in helping serve please see three meaningful ways below:
- Give. Currently, many of the main roads and back roads are washed out and dangerous to travel. While we may try to collect certain items in the future, for now financial donations are the most helpful resource donations. You can give directly to Baptists On Mission or you can give to Ardmore Baptist Church by clicking here (use the dropdown under Fund and choose Disaster Relief). For checks, write Disaster Relief on the memo line. This will ensure that your donation goes directly to those who need it most and who have boots on the ground ready to help.
- Pray. Please pray for those looking for loved ones they haven’t heard from. Please pray for those who have lost loved ones and are grieving. Please pray for those who don’t know where to turn or what to do. Please pray for those who are first responders, shelter managers, food preparers, etc. Please pray that God works through God’s people to love and heal what seems so broken and destroyed.
- Go. We have put together 3 dates for possible trips in the next few weeks. If interested, please click here to fill out the Google Form and let us know if you are available any of these dates. There will be trips in the future too but for now, this is the best way to help according to our partners. We originally thought that day trips would be possible but now have learned that Baptists On Mission would rather teams come for 5-6 days at a time. They have secured lodging and that would be provided along with meals.
Any way that you choose to serve is meaningful, important, and is an expression of living out your faith. Thank you for all the ways you love and care for our neighbors during this time. If you have any questions about the above information please reach out to me, Amy Gallaher, agallaher@ardmorebaptist.org. If you have questions about a possible trip you may also reach out to our Disaster Relief Coordinator, Jeff McIntyre, jeff@mcintyremfg.com.
Blessings,
