What We Believe
God is Love. Children are Created and Loved by God.
Adrmore's Ministry to Children & Families
Ministry Offerings
Sunday Bible Study
Each Sunday morning, 9:30 am – 10:30 am, the children (birth – 6th grade) gather by age groups for a time to learn about who God is as well as who we are as God’s children. We do this through reading scripture, prayer, activities (including thinking, moving, and creating), and lots of wondering questions.
Worship
Contemplative Service: 8:15 am – 9:15 am
Traditional Service: 10:45 am – 11:45 am
Children can be found leading in worship in many ways which help enrich our communal worship. They serve as ushers, acolytes (light the Christ candle), read scripture, lead a litany, sing, and pray. We are so thankful to learn from and be led by our children.
Children can also be found utilizing items from our Worship Cart (found in the Narthex) which might help them connect to the theme of the day, a spiritual prayer practice, journaling, or might just help with fidgeting.
Children of all ages are always welcome in our worship services. We also offer Worship Care during the services for the youngest children (pre-k and younger) if that is a better fit for your family.
Baby Dedication
A baby is a miracle and a gift from God. We rejoice in the opportunity to welcome families with a new baby through Baby Dedication. This is a ceremony in worship in which the family promises to raise their child to know Jesus and invites our church family to promise to walk alongside them.
Childcare
We know that entrusting your little one to someone else is a big deal and we don’t take that lightly. How we care for children is holy work because they experience God’s love through our care. We offer childcare for children (pre-k and younger) for:
- Churchwide events
- Worship Care during worship services – 8:00 am – 9:30am and 10:30 am – 11:45 am
- All Together Ardmore (Sunday afternoons) 3:45 pm – 6:00 pm
All Together Ardmore
Sundays, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm during the school year for 3 year olds through 6th graders – divided by age groups
We alternate blocks between Discipleship & Missions (5-7 weeks) and then move to Music (5-7 weeks).
- Discipleship & Missions: In Discipleship, each age group learns at their developmental level about the seasons of the Christian year, symbols of our faith, what it means to follow Jesus, and how we orient our lives to follow Jesus. In Missions, the children learn about those serving Christ in different parts of the world as we also equip each child to serve Christ right here in Winston-Salem.
- Music – Our children choose a variety of opportunities to try out their voices and musical instruments. Through handbells, handchimes, choir, orff instruments, guitar, and world music the children offer music to God while gaining confidence in the musical arts.
Journey for 6th Graders
A monthly gathering for 6th grade students to have something special for them as they navigate middle school, faith questions, and life. We eat dinner together, play games, and follow Jesus’ life while talking about our lives too.
