Our Choir's CDs!

With A Voice of SingingListen to samples of the Choir's CD With A Voice of Singing

Also available, the choir's Christmas At Ardmore CD and When the Servant Sings. This recording is the choir's contribution to Ardmore's "Year of Celebration" which began when we dedicated our new sanctuary on November 23, 2003. The title song was commissioned by the Adult Choir in honor of Sandra Talton's 10th anniversary as Minister of Music and Worship at Ardmore Baptist.

Call Debra at 725-8767 to order.

The Music Ministry of Ardmore has three purposes:

  1. To train choral and instrumental groups to lead in worship.
  2. To offer Christian fellowship in the context of working together toward musical and congregational goals.
  3. To deepen the spiritual lives of both musicians and members of the congregation through musical compositions that teach scriptural and theological truths.

Children’s Choirs

Ardmore’s preschool and children’s choirs use age-appropriate and sequential music and materials to give children ages 3 years through 6th grade a strong musical foundation. These groups are education (both musical and spiritual)-oriented, rather than performance choirs, although elementary age children sing in worship services several times each year.

Youth Choir

Seventh – twelfth graders in Ardmore’s Youth Choir meet each Sunday afternoon to rehearse; a snack supper provided by parents is served between choir and other evening youth activities. They present a musical each spring during Youth Week, and are the service choir for Youth Sunday.

Senior Adult Choir

Senior adults meet on Tuesday mornings to enjoy learning and singing together. They present a musical at Christmas and in the spring, as well as participating each year in the Senior Adult Choir Festival sponsored by the Baptist State Convention.

Adult Choir

Ardmore’s Adult Choir provides service music for both the 8:15 and 10:30 worship services each Sunday, and is open to all adults 18 years and older. The 10:30 choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 – 9:00; the 8:15 choir rehearses on Sunday mornings at 7:50 am. Christmas and Easter programs are presented each year; in addition, in recent years the choir has premiered "In His Presence" and "And Still He Made the Sunrise" at Ridgecrest Baptist Assembly, and held a 25th anniversary performance of "Celebrate Life" at Ardmore. In September of 1998, the Adult Choir recorded a CD of favorite anthems, entitled "With a Voice of Singing."Annual choir retreats are held to provide intensive rehearsal and fellowship time.

Handbell Choirs

The Music Ministry sponsors five handbell groups:

1. Handbells I, a beginning ringing group; children 2nd grade and above learn musical notation and ringing technique, using two octaves of handchimes.

2. Handbells II, for those who have "graduated" from Children’s Handbells I, OR who demonstrate music reading and rhythmic skills necessary to ring handbells.

3. Handbells III

4. Youth Handbells, for 7th –12 graders.

5. Adult Handbells

Both Youth and Adult Handbells participate in yearly handbell festivals sponsored by the Baptist State Convention of NC. All handbell choirs ring in worship several times each year, using five octaves of Schulmerich and Malmark handbells.
