Who should participate in this program?

Anyone who desires to enhance his/her leadership skills and influence people’s thinking, behavior, and development.

What type of leaders will benefit from this program?

Emerging leaders, established leaders, and anyone who wants to develop into a leader. The Lead Like Jesus philosophy is based on becoming a servant leader and learning how to serve others in all our leadership roles at home, at church, at work, and in the community.

Is participation in this program going to be a prerequisite for service in a leadership role at ABC?

No. While this program is designed to better equip and prepare individuals for service, it will not be a requirement.

Will I be expected to accept a leadership position upon completion of this program?

No, this program is designed to provide you with insight and understanding about your spiritual gifts and leadership style, as well as information on leadership opportunities that are available at Ardmore. With this information, you may identify a place of service at Ardmore that is a good fit for you, but that is a personal decision you will make and is in no way a requirement of this program.

What curriculum will be used for this program?

The group will use the Lead Like Jesus study guide. Lead Like Jesus, by Ken Blanchard and Phil Hodges, focuses on the heart, the head, the hands, and the habits of a servant leader.

What is the time commitment?

The kick-off retreat will be held on a Friday night and Saturday morning. There will be six Bible study sessions (two hours each) and a celebration banquet at the end of the program. Additionally, the participants will be asked to complete three out-of-class assignments, a class project, and five nights of Bible study homework between the Bible study sessions. A commitment to attend all sessions is essential.

Who will lead the program?

Debbie Loftis will facilitate the Bible study, and members of the church staff will provide opening devotions and support throughout the program.

Is this program limited to a specific age group?

No. All church members over age 21 are invited to participate.

Can established leaders in the church participate?

Yes. Emerging leaders, established leaders, and anyone who would like to develop their leadership abilities can benefit from this program. The Lead Like Jesus philosophy is based on becoming a servant leader and learning how to serve others through all our leadership roles at home, at church, at work, and in the community.

Do other churches do this?

While Ardmore is not the first church to do this, it is still a new concept and represents a cutting edge approach to developing lay leaders. 

How many individuals can participate?

For best learning, group size will typically be 12 - 16. The ideal group composition will mirror the diverse population that Ardmore is very fortunate to have.

Information sessions will be held in advance in order to provide more details and answer any questions. Dates for these sessions will be published in the Ardmore Announcer and the Sunday and Wednesday papers.
